After Australia’s six-wicket win in the 2023 World Cup final, Diksha Gupta, an employee at Marketing Moves agency in Gurugram, shared a post on LinkedIn. Having been actively involved in World Cup campaigns, she conveyed the challenges her team faced in dealing with the loss. However, there was a twist in the tale.
“Today, I woke up to a message from my manager giving everyone a day off due to the impact of this loss. It was such a surprise that no one believed it until the official email arrived,” she wrote. Posted on LinkedIn.
Besides, it also shared screenshots of the message received by its president, Chirag Al Awadhi, which read: “Hello team! In light of India’s loss in the current World Championship, we are aware of the impact on our team members. To extend some support during this period.”, the company decided Granting leave for one day. We believe this will provide an opportunity for everyone to regroup and recover. We will come back stronger.”
The news was confirmed by a subsequent email. She also shared screenshots of the chat and email on X, formerly Twitter.

The hashtag #MondayestMondayEver quickly gained popularity on Twitter, with many users calling for a national holiday to allow fans time to process their disappointment.
